Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Odessa, Texas
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) – High Risk Level III NICU
Job Details
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Work Hours: Facility will consider 36 or 48 hours per week
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of NICU nursing experience
- Specialty Requirements:
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required
- STABLE certification required
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required as applicable
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy) – Required as applicable
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – Required as applicable
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – Required as applicable
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) – Required as applicable
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) – Required for RNs; pharmacology exam given onsite at orientation
- State Nursing License verification (RN) – Required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification (RN) – Required within 30 days of start
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 30 days of start; updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen required within 30 days of start; instant acceptable
- Employment application and resume required
- 2 professional references required within 3 years of start
- Skills checklist required and must be updated annually
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start; must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract
- Fit mask test within 1 year; updated annually (N-95 or Halyard Orange Duckbill masks accepted)
- Immunizations/vaccinations required (must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract):
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year; chest X-ray within 2 years for positive responders)
- Rubeola (Measles) – positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Mumps – positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Rubella – positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Hepatitis B – positive titer, series (3), or declination accepted
- Varicella – positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination during flu season (Oct-April); mask required if declined
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Completion of facility-specific documents including:
- Notice of Employment
- Standards of Conduct and Behavior
- Dress Code Policy Acknowledgement
- Agency Checklist
- COVID Declination (if applicable)
- HIPAA and Fair Warning Quiz Modules (must be completed within 72 hours of signing)
- Orientation and Safety Training Modules (must be completed within 72 hours of signing)
- Annual TB Questionnaire (updated annually)
Additional Notes
- Candidate must meet or exceed competency exam requirements (medication/pharmacology and general competency exams)
- Time-sensitive requirements must be completed promptly (within 72 hours of contract signing)
