Job Description
- Provide liver care post-transplant in Intermediate Care (IMC) setting
- Level 1 trauma experience required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty required
- Experienced travelers preferred (prior travel experience required)
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC)
- Permanent Virginia RN license required (temporary licenses not accepted)
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs
Required Background and Compliance Checks
- Criminal background check within 60 days of start, including all states lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification (degree from NLN or CCNE accredited program)
- Fingerprinting required for certain units (Pediatrics, NICU, Behavioral Health, Labor and Delivery) with proof of submission prior to start
- Virginia State Police National Criminal Background Check Fingerprint Results required with proof of submission on file before start
- Virginia Central Registry (CPS) search required with proof of submission within 48 hours of contract signing; candidates may start with results pending
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Tdap vaccine or declination required
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Titers and/or boosters required for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination required
- Drug testing within 60 days of start (9-panel minimum, instant drug screens not accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required for the 2025-26 season
Competency and Facility Specific Requirements
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable
- Color blind testing required
- Abuse reporting competency required (covering physical/sexual abuse, domestic violence, neglect/exploitation of elderly or incapacitated adults)
- Orientation includes exams such as Pharmacology, Point of Care Testing, Airborne Precaution Mask Fitting, and Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT) for certain units
- Completion of assigned learning modules during orientation week (approx. 6 hours)
Additional Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service
- Proof of primary residence must match compact licensure documentation
- Two professional references required
- Complete application/resume required
- Skills checklist must be updated annually
Notes
- Candidates must have completed at least one prior travel contract or have prior travel experience
- Certifications expiring within 1 month of contract start will not be accepted; no onsite renewals offered
- Candidates must bring certain personal items to orientation (mask, non-wireless headphones, laptop or cell phone if available)
