Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (IR PACU)

Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks

Position Overview

• Role: IR PACU Nurse with rotating start times at 6 AM, 7 AM, or 8 AM
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (shift times vary based on unit needs)
• Responsibilities include phase 1 recovery care in IR PACU
• Required to perform 3-4 late stays every 6 weeks
• Must have experience caring for pediatric patients

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year ICU experience
• Prior IR PACU experience with phase 1 recovery required
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – must obtain prior to start if not currently held
• NIH Stroke Certification (may be required based on unit details)
• Other certifications may be required depending on specialty/unit (e.g., NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, CPI)

Licensure

• Valid state nursing license required (verification within 30 days of start)
• NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start

Background and Health Requirements

• Background checks including criminal, sex offender, and education verification required
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types accepted)
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year, renewed annually)
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccinations)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella (positive titer or vaccinations)
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination/documentation (required annually, exemptions accepted)
  • COVID vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (booster preferred but not required)
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, updated annually

Competency and Skills Testing

• Pass/Fail EKG/Dysrhythmia exam required (two attempts max)
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (pediatric medication exam required for pediatric RNs)
• Unit-specific competency exams required annually
• Color blindness testing required within 1 year
• RN Math Ability competency exam annually
• Skills checklists updated annually, specific to unit/specialty
• Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing required for ICU, PACU, and other critical units

Additional Requirements

• Two professional references verified within 6 months of start (manager or supervisor preferred)
• Employment application with explanation for any gaps over 30 days
• Employment verification for the past 7 years required
• Various facility-specific policies and agreements must be signed prior to start

• Local travelers within 75 miles are not accepted for this position
• Shift times and requirements may vary based on unit needs
• Candidates must renew all expiring documents prior to clearance for assignment start
