Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Med Surgical) - Travel/Contract

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA provider or AHA RQI only (No RQI providers like Laerdal)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required for this position; AHA provider or AHA RQI only
• NIHSS – Preferred but not required

Recommended Certifications (Not Required)

• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)

Licensure & Verification

• Must have an active Illinois RN license
• Primary source license verification required within 30 days of assignment start
• NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
• Candidates without an Illinois state license must complete fingerprinting and be added to the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Health Care Worker Registry

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check including aliases, sex offender, criminal, federal, and education verification
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Education verification required (ADN or BSN minimum)
• Drug testing: 9-panel minimum within 30 days of start, updated annually
• Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask types required)
• Immunizations and titers required within 2 business days of contract signing:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (if positive TB)
  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Flu seasonal vaccination/documentation required for flu season (10/1 to 3/31), with facility-approved medical or religious exemptions only

• 2 professional references required
• Employment verification for last 7 years required
• Skills checklist for assigned and float units, updated annually
• Photo for badge (passport style, plain background, no headgear)

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
• Candidates must complete any required exemption forms (COVID-19, Influenza) at least one week prior to documentation due date for facility approval
• Fingerprinting must be completed in Illinois and within 10 days of authorization if required
• Candidates must be prepared to float to other units as needed

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 1 year of Med Surgical experience who are comfortable with floating, weekend shifts every other weekend, and working within a structured travel contract environment.
