Job Details

Experience Requirements
- Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years required; will consider 1.5 years with strong Level 1 trauma experience
- Level 1 Trauma Experience: Preferred
- Prior Travel Experience: Strongly preferred but not required if candidate has 2+ years Level 1 trauma experience
- First-timers: Accepted
Certifications Required Before Start
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Must have before submission
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification (can pend until compliance due date before start)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Licensure
- New Mexico nursing license can be pending at time of submission
- Valid non-local driver’s license required (ID cards not accepted)
- No locals accepted within 75 miles radius
Scheduling & Other Requirements
- Weekend shifts required as needed (weekend days = Sat/Sun; weekend nights = Fri/Sat/Sun)
- No on-call required
- No block scheduling accommodation
- Return-to-Office (RTO) restrictions: Absences greater than 7 days require approval
- Contracted hours guaranteed (36/40/48 hours per week) with facility allowed to call off 3 times during 13-week assignment
- COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with proper documentation
Job Responsibilities
- Medication administration including IV medications following the seven medication rights
- Document and communicate clinical findings
- Manage increased admit holds in the ED
- Work in a high-acuity Level I trauma emergency department environment
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within one year of start
- Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (unless completed within past 12 months)
- Education verification required (diploma or transcript acceptable if 3rd party verification unavailable)
- Drug screen negative within 30 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
- Fit mask test required within 1 year of start (specific N95 masks accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations required:
- Rubeola (Measles) - 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer
- Mumps - 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer
- Rubella - 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer (history of disease not accepted)
- Hepatitis B - Declination, series, or titer acceptable
- Flu vaccine required year-round with exemptions accepted via facility form
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (Aya requirement)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (Relias Basic Dysrhythmia Exam) with minimum passing scores required; two attempts allowed
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) through Relias required for ED and related units
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification required for Behavioral Health units
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification recommended
- Certification for MOAB required for Behavioral Health RNs and Allied candidates
Additional Notes
- No RQI certifications accepted for required certifications
- Candidates must review and sign various facility-specific compliance forms prior to start
- Work experience verification required for 3 years prior to hire
- Two professional references within three years of hire required
- Floating to other units may be required based on staffing needs
