Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Avon, Indiana
Specialty: Registered Nurse (MedSurg)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Key Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Indiana Residents: Not accepted (except for Periop/OR RN’s, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers who are exempt from the Indiana resident restriction)
- First Time Travelers: Accepted
- Shift Requirements:
- 3x12-hour shifts or 4x12-hour shifts
- Every other weekend required
- Staffing Ratios: 1:5-6
- Floating: Required to float to other MedSurg units
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Required for all travelers (medical or religious exemptions accepted with documentation)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required
Experience & Skills
- Required Specialty Experience: Minimum 1 year MedSurg experience
- Preferred Experience: Cerner electronic health record system experience preferred
- Certifications Required:
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Additional Certifications (may be required depending on unit):
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- Others as applicable per unit
Licensure & Documentation Requirements
- State License: Must have a valid RN license verified online within 30 days of start
- Background Checks:
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education Verification: Required, may be pending at start but must be obtained
- Transcript/Diploma: Official copies required
- References: Minimum 2 references from recent employment with appropriate supervisory titles
- Skills Checklist: Must be completed within 12 months and annually thereafter
- Employment Application: Must be current and explain any gaps of 30+ days
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Completed within 12 months of start
- Fit Mask Test: Required within 12 months of start with approved respirators (N95 or PAPR)
- Immunizations & Titers:
- COVID-19 vaccine (mandatory)
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (seasonal requirement)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (strongly recommended)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
Additional Notes
- Indiana RNs working in Periop/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory roles are exempt from the Indiana resident restriction effective 11/30/2024.
- Floating to other MedSurg units is required.
- Candidates must complete facility-specific orientation and compliance forms prior to start.
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam and unit competency exam required.
- Color blindness testing required (Ishihara exam or equivalent).
