Job Details

- Facility Info: 23 Operating Rooms and 1 procedure room; handles elective and emergency surgeries for adults and pediatric patients across various specialties
Experience Requirements
- Must be a Certified Surgical Tech, or have worked as a tech in New York prior to 2015
- Years of Specialty Experience: Not explicitly stated; certification or prior tech experience required

Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - as required by unit
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as required by unit
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - as required by unit
- Tech Certification Verification (National) - as required within 30 days of start
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement - required
- State License Verification - primary source verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification (for RN, LPN/LVN, AP) - within 30 days of start if applicable
- NIH Stroke Certification - as required by unit, updated annually
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Government Issued Photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
- 7-year Criminal Background Check within 3 months of start (including felony checks)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, run monthly
- Foreign Equivalency Education Evaluation if applicable
- Education Verification from primary source (no hard copies accepted)
- Transcript/Diploma if no education verification on file
Health and Safety Requirements
Candidates must complete all health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing the contract:
- Physical Exam (within 1 year, updated annually)
- Fit Mask Test (within 1 year, updated annually)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (within 1 year)
- TB Questionnaire (in lieu of annual TB test renewal)
- Immunizations or titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Drug Testing (within 30 days of start)
- Flu Seasonal Vaccination or signed declination (required during flu season)
- Eye Exam (Snellen, within 1 year)
- COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
Competency Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as required by profession
- Color Blind Testing (one-time requirement)
- Competency Exam as required by profession/specialty
Additional Requirements
- Photo for badge (passport-style with solid background)
- References: 2 references within 3 years (required for Aya candidates only)
- Employment Application and Skills Checklist (annual)
- Work History Verification: at least 2 past employments verified
State-Specific Requirements (New York)
- NYS Nurse Aide Registry (within 3 months of start for certain care areas)
- NYS Criminal Background Check Fingerprint Results (may be required for specific units)
- Disciplinary Action Search Results (may be required for specific units)
- Sex Offender Registry Search (within 30 days of start)
- NY Medicaid Exclusion List Check (within 3 months of start, run monthly)
