Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Battle Creek, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg)
• Shift: 36 or 48 hour weeks available
• Schedule: Must be available for the entire first 8 days of assignment; will work every other weekend
• Floating: Will float to other Med/Surg units approximately once per week, depending on unit needs
• Staffing Ratio:

  • Nights: 1:5-6
  • Ratios may flex to 1:8 with LPN support
• Unit Description:

  • 37-bed Medical, Surgical, Oncology Unit (C5)
  • Patient types include general medical diagnoses and surgical patients specializing in gastrointestinal, urological, gynecological surgeries (e.g., hysterectomies, mastectomies)
  • Other specialties seen: ortho/neurovascular, cardio/pulmonary

Requirements

• Licensure:

  • Michigan RN License required (pending license acceptable with ETA provided)
• Certifications:

  • BLS (AHA) required (pending acceptable if willing to obtain)
• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years Med/Surg experience preferred (minimum 1 year required)
• Work Environment:

  • Must be willing to work with a variety of staff (RNs, LPNs, Techs, etc.)
  • Cannot guarantee block scheduling

Prior Travel Experience

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • Criminal background check within 45 days of start, including lifetime search from age 18
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Michigan-specific Central Registry Clearance (time sensitive for certain placements)
• Fingerprinting:

  • Michigan LARA fingerprinting required within 45 days of start for certain positions (not specifically required for this RN role unless assigned to specified units)
• Health Documents:

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 45 days of start
  • Immunizations: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination), Varicella
  • Drug testing: 10-panel including Marijuana/THC within 45 days of start
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for candidates starting after November 1
• Competency Exams:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 1 year prior to start (passing score ≥80%)
  • Specialty competency exam within 1 year prior to start (passing score ≥80%)
• References & History:

  • One professional reference from a supervisor or manager required
  • Complete employment application/resume with full 7 years work history, no gaps

• NRP (AAP or American Medical Learning Center)
• TNCC (required for ER positions)
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
• NIH Stroke Certification (annual update required)

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be willing to float to other Med/Surg units as needed
• Staffing ratios may vary and support from LPNs will be provided when ratios increase
• Must be able to work every other weekend
• Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
