Job Opportunity: Surgical Services (Travel/Contract)
Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Job Summary
- Specialty: Surgical Services
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Facility: Sensitive Unit with multiple surgical service lines including Bariatrics, Urology, Neurology, ENT, Oral, Plastics, Transplant, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, GYN, and Orthopedics
- Weekend Schedule: Friday through Sunday block
- Call: Variable (to be discussed during interview)
- Floating: Within facility and outpatient as needed
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of Operating Room experience prior to travel
- Must have experience in Neurology, Transplant, General Surgery, GYN, and Orthopedics
- Unit accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required)
Orientation & Compliance
- Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance push start date by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Maximum 7 days of Return to Orientation (RTO) allowed
- Number of Non-Billable Orientation Hours depends on contract length (e.g., 16 weeks = 16 hours)
Certifications & Licenses (as applicable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - if applicable
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - if applicable
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - online course required within a few months of hire
- State License verification (must be licensed in Georgia)
- Allied Annual License Verification (if applicable)
- NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
Required Health Documents & Screenings
- Physical Exam (within 1 year of start)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 12 months (two negative TB tests required for privileging specialties)
- TB Questionnaire (updated annually)
- Immunizations:
- Rubeola (Measles): 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
- Mumps: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
- Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
- Hepatitis B Series, Surface Antibody Titer, or Signed Declination (declination form required if titer negative)
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (highly recommended, declination form available for privileging specialties)
- Drug Testing: Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable under certain conditions)
- Flu Seasonal Vaccination or Declination (required for 2025-26 season)
Competency Exams & Testing
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for RNs and LVNs)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
- Competency Exam (required for Nursing and Allied)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for specific units such as Telemetry, ICU, ER, etc.)
Additional Notes
- Holidays: No holiday Return to Orientation (RTO) approved during blackout dates (11/23-11/29, 12/21-1/3)
- Clinical screening required to determine fit before final manager decision
- Locals accepted at the same rate
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy
References & Verification
- Two clinical references required (Aya requirement, not client)
- Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
- Verification of most recent employer required (can be pending at start with proof of processing)
