Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract Position

Job Details

• Unit: CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room)
• Shift: 10-hour day shifts, 06:45 AM to 5:15 PM
• Call Requirements:

  • Call required: weeknights 5:15 PM - 6:30 AM (Monday-Friday)
  • Weekend call shifts: 6:30 AM Saturday OR Sunday for 24 hours
  • Typical call frequency: 4-5 weeknights plus 2-3 weekend shifts in a 6-week period
• Weekend Requirement: Some call on weekends
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Floating: Yes, between Belleville and East campuses as needed (within scope)
• Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
• Locals Accepted: Yes (if signed before 12/31/25)
• Pending License: Not accepted
• Return to Office Restrictions: 7 days within 13-week contract

Experience & Skills

• Required Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted
• Clinical Skills:

  • Must be able to independently first scrub multiple service lines
  • Experience preferred in endovascular/hybrid, neuro-spine, ENT, ortho, robotic specialties
  • Ability to function as circulator and scrub (preference for circulator/scrub combo)
  • Strong cardiac OR competency required with ability to quickly become independent after orientation
• Primary Work Location: Belleville campus; may float to Shiloh campus
• Call Location: Belleville campus only

Certifications Required

• Required:

  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
• Preferred:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued ID required
• Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
• Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Education verification of highest nursing degree required before start
• Illinois fingerprinting required for long-term care or rehab float assignments
• Professional license primary source verification required (Illinois permanent license required for extension)
• NURSYS verification required for Missouri licenses
• Drug testing within 1 year, must include specific panels and be valid throughout assignment
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test required annually (N95 respirators)
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or documented:

  • Tdap (or declination)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination
  • Flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
• Facility-specific documents including HIPAA acknowledgement, latex allergy questionnaire, confidentiality form, regulatory compliance education, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start
• Orientation modules (~16 hours) required through WorkRamp prior to start
• Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists required and must be updated annually
• Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)

Additional Notes

• Must adhere to facility policies including hand hygiene, dress code, and fingernail policies
• Floating between campuses may be required to meet staffing needs
• Call shifts are mandatory and scheduled as described
• Strong cardiac OR skills and ability to scrub multiple specialties independently are critical for success in this role

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 2 years of OR experience, especially those with cardiac OR skills, who are comfortable with call responsibilities and floating between campuses. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
