Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Schedule & Work Details

  • Hours:
    • Monday: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
    • Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
    • Thursday-Friday: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM
  • General Call: 4-6 call shifts in a 6-week schedule (includes two 12-hour weekend call shifts)
  • Scrub and circulate required
  • Must have orthopedic scrub and total joint experience
  • 50-mile radius rule applies
  • Can submit application with Virginia license pending

Experience Requirements

  • Level 1 experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required (highest requirement noted)

Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – ARC and AHA accepted
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA and ARC accepted, required for all candidates except Case Managers, Histo Techs, and MLTs
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – ARC, AHA accepted (if applicable)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – AHA, AAP accepted (if applicable)
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate) – Required for Chemo, Oncology, and Infusion RNs (ONS/ONCC certificate required)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – ENA accepted (if applicable)
  • NIH Stroke Certification – Required for certain hospital units (AHA, Apex, or AA CME accepted)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – Required for Behavioral Health nurses
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam – Required as applicable
  • Competency Exam – Required

Licensure & Verification

  • Virginia state nursing license required (primary source verification within 30 days of start for new and extension contracts)
  • NURSYS verification required for all RNs/LPNs within 30 days of start
  • Can submit with Virginia license pending

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 60 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated every 30 days
  • Education verification required (BSN preferred; ASN required if no BSN)
  • Abuse Registry Search required only for Behavioral Health and certain units
  • Fingerprinting may be required depending on unit (facility will notify)
  • Drug testing: 10-panel drug screen including Marijuana and Fentanyl, required within 2 months of start and updated annually
  • Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (no declinations/exemptions)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2-step PPD or Qgold acceptable; Tspot not accepted)
    • Annual TB questionnaire if past positive
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella – 2 vaccines or positive titer required (no declinations/exemptions)
    • Hepatitis B – Positive Hep B Surface Antibody titer required or specific antigen titer protocol
    • Varicella – 2 vaccines or titer required (declination required if titer negative)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination required (no exemptions/declinations)

Additional Requirements

  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Skills checklist and performance evaluations as applicable
  • Pass/Fail cardiac rhythm assessment required during orientation for adult inpatient RN positions and Mother-Baby units
  • Professional appearance guidelines must be reviewed and acknowledged
  • Fit testing required for patient-facing clinical roles (completed onsite if required)
  • Various facility-specific forms and screenings must be completed prior to start
