Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Odessa, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Must be willing to float to other med/surg/tele units as assigned
  • Facility will consider 48 hours per week or 36/48 alternating schedules
  • Patient ratios up to 6:1

Experience Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse

  • NIH Stroke Certification – as applicable
  • State License Verification (within 30 days of start)
  • NURSYS Verification (RN) (within 30 days of start)
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual update)
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for RNs (Pharmacology exam onsite at orientation)

Background Checks & Compliance

  • 7 Year Background Check required within 30 days of start; updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
  • HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract)
  • Fit Mask Test within 1 year; updated annually (N-95 or Halyard Orange Duckbill masks accepted; PAPR not accepted)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB or Chest X-Ray (PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 1 year; Chest X-Ray within 2 years for positive responders)
  • Rubeola (Measles) – Positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster if low/equivocal titer
  • Mumps – Positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster if low/equivocal titer
  • Rubella – Positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster if low/equivocal titer
  • Hepatitis B – Positive titer, series (3), or declination
  • Varicella – Positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster if low/equivocal titer
  • Drug Testing – Negative 10 panel drug screen within 30 days of start; plan for completion within 72 hours of contract signing
  • Flu Seasonal Vaccination or Declination (required during flu season Oct-April; mask required if declined until March 31)

  • Government Issued Photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
  • Medical Center Hospital-specific documents including:
    • Notice of Employment
    • Standards of Conduct
    • Dress Code Policy Acknowledgement
    • Agency Checklist
    • Standards of Behavior
    • COVID Declination (if applicable)
    • HIPAA and Fair Warning Quiz Modules (complete within 72 hours of signing)
    • Orientation and Safety Training Modules (complete within 72 hours of signing)
    • Annual TB Questionnaire (updated annually)
  • References: 2 required within 3 years of start
  • Employment Application/Resume copy required
  • Skills Checklist 1 (annual update)

Additional Notes

  • Candidate must be prepared for time-sensitive requirements, especially health and compliance documents to be completed within 72 hours of contract signing.
  • Floating to multiple units (med/surg/tele) is expected.
  • Patient ratios may be as high as 6:1.

This position is suitable for Registered Nurses comfortable with med/surg and telemetry units, able to meet comprehensive certification and health requirements, and willing to work a 13-week travel contract in Odessa, Texas.
