Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Burlington, Vermont
Contract Length: 16 weeks

Job Description

• Assignment in Surgical ICU (M3 SICU - McClure 3) with floating to MICU as needed
• Schedule requires minimum every other weekend and flexibility to meet unit and patient care needs
• Uniform: Any solid color scrubs
• Facility is a large teaching hospital (500+ beds)

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
• Prior Travel Experience: Required (must have completed at least one prior travel contract)
• Experience in a large teaching facility required
• Hemodynamic device experience preferred
• Experience with patient populations including post-cardiac surgery, vascular trauma (level 1), general surgery, neurosurgery overflow, and MICU
• EPIC electronic medical record experience within the past 2 years is required (non-negotiable)
• Certifications:

  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification required prior to start
  • CCRN certification preferred

Schedule & Orientation

• Monday to Sunday shifts, no block schedules
• Bi-weekly orientations on Mondays (next available orientation date provided by employer)
• Must explain any employment gaps over 90 days
• Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended due to lack of public transportation
• Vehicles should have all-season or snow tires during November through April

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Education verification as required
• State license primary source verification within 30 days of start and upon expiration
• NURSYS verification within 30 days of start and updated annually
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as required
• Color blind testing required
• Competency exams as required by specialty
• Vermont Adult and Child Abuse Registry consent and search
• COVID-19 vaccination attestation and questionnaire (time sensitive)
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• N95 fit test prior to assignment start and updated annually
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tdap within 10 years or titer
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella
  • Hepatitis B series and titer or signed declination
  • 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer
• Flu vaccination or exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• Drug testing as required (varies by state)
• References: 2 professional references from assignments within last 3 years
• Employment application and skills checklist within 12 months
• Work history verification for last 2 years of clinical work

Additional Notes

• Must complete EPIC and Cornerstone training modules prior to start
• Must review facility dress code and telephone usage policies
• Photo for badge required (passport style, plain background, no logos or hats)
• Auto insurance required if using personal vehicle for work
• COVID testing protocol on Day 1 of work, including mask-wearing and social distancing requirements
• Various facility-specific forms and attestations must be completed promptly after contract signing
