Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Newnan, Georgia
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Unit Details

  • Patient Diagnoses: Stroke, COPD, AKI, Chest Pain, Diabetes, COVID, Pneumonia, General Med Surg
  • Weekend Schedule: Every Other Weekend
  • Call: None
  • Floating: Within facility/scope of practice as needed

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum Specialty Experience: 1 year (Unit accepts first-time travelers)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required

Orientation & Compliance

  • Orientation: Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
  • RTO (Return to Office): Maximum 7 days
  • Compliance: Full compliance required to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule

Holiday Work Expectations

  • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler expected to work it
  • If 2 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work both
  • If 3 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work 2 of them
  • Major Holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or ARC accepted
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for RNs in certain specialties; check facility guidelines
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for RNs in PACU/Pre-op/Endo/CSU (if pediatric patients accepted), ER
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): May be required depending on specialty
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Online course required within a few months of hire (no re-certification required)
  • State License: Must be licensed in Georgia
  • NURSYS Verification: Annual verification required within 30 days prior to start
  • NIH Stroke Certification: May be required depending on specialty

Required Competencies

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required by Aya for RNs)
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
  • Competency Exam (required by Aya for Nursing and Allied)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Tele, MS/Tele, IMCU, ER, Cardiac Tele/Step-down, ICU, PCU)

Required Background & Health Documents

  • Photo ID: Driver’s License or State ID required
  • Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days of start, including education verification
  • Education Verification: Required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
  • Physical Exam: Required by Aya within 1 year of start
  • Negative TB or Chest X-Ray: Within 12 months of start; can start with TB test pending if TB questionnaire on file
  • TB Questionnaire: Required for all candidates, updated annually
  • Immunizations:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; boosters allowed post-start if eligible
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters allowed post-start if eligible
    • Hepatitis B: Series, antibody titer, or signed declination
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending
  • Flu Vaccination: Required or declination during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31); documentation must be uploaded

Additional Requirements

  • References: 2 clinical references required by Aya (not required by client)
  • Skills Checklist: Must be updated within 12 months
  • Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process

Notes

  • Locals accepted at the same rate as travelers
  • Floating within facility as needed
  • Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time
