Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: South Bend, Indiana

Unit & Patient Population

• Unit: 10 South Medical Oncology
• Focus: Oncology with a high volume of heavy telemetry patients
• Responsibilities include management of drips and cardiac rhythms
• Strong telemetry experience preferred; if not, strong MedSurg skills required

Schedule & Work Details

• Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating: Required to float within intermediate care or lower acuity units
• Call: None
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Prior travel experience: Not required

Candidate Requirements

• Must live at least 50 miles away from the facility (locals not accepted)
• Must pass medication and EKG tests prior to assignment
• Charting system: Cerner
• Scrub color: Royal Blue top with White or Royal Blue bottoms

Certifications & Licensure

• Current RN state license required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
• Other certifications may be required based on unit (e.g., Chemotherapy certification)
• Must comply with all facility-specific certification requirements

Background & Health Requirements

• Background check covering last 7 years, all states lived/worked in, required within 90 days of start
• Education verification or copy of diploma/transcripts required
• Physical exam required
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (2-step PPD or Qgold accepted; T-Spot not accepted)
• Required immunizations or titers: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (boosters if low titer)
• Negative 12-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to start (flu season October–May)
• COVID vaccine exemption allowed with medical or religious documentation

Testing & Onboarding

• On-site EKG exam required to assess ability to identify cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias
• Completion of facility-required modules (approx. 8-10 hours) prior to start
• Facility-specific documents and agreements must be completed before starting

Additional Notes

• Floating may include intermediate care or lower acuity units
• No call or holiday requirements
• Modules must be completed by 1 PM CST Friday prior to start
• Candidates who have worked with the system in the past year may be exempt from new modules
