Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Hazleton, Pennsylvania

Job Details
- Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM
- Schedule: Every Other Weekend (Saturday/Sunday), Every Other Week (EOW) and Every Other Holiday (EOH)
- Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty (Acute Inpatient Rehab, Blood Glucose Monitoring, Care and Management of Ports)
- Charge Nurse Experience: Preferred
- Floating: Not required
- Call: No call required
- Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
- First Time Travelers: Accepted
Licensure & Certifications
- License: PA or Compact RN license required and must be in hand
- BLS: Required (American Heart Association preferred)
- Additional Certifications:
- ACLS (if applicable based on unit)
- PALS (if applicable)
- NRP (if applicable)
- TNCC (if applicable)
- EFM (if applicable)
- State License Verification: Primary source verification required prior to start and upon expiration
- NURSYS Verification: Required prior to start
Required Experience & Skills
- Acute inpatient rehabilitation nursing
- Blood glucose monitoring
- Care and management of ports
- Charge nurse experience preferred
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Comprehensive background checks covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
- Pennsylvania Department of Human Services fingerprint clearance required within 90 days of start
- Education verification for highest level of education relative to specialty
- State-specific searches including Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search, PATCH, Medicheck
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel or 9-panel (without THC) within 60 days of start
- Physical exam within 2 months of start
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- TDAP (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray (annual updates not required)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination)
- Hepatitis B (positive antibody titer or completed vaccine series)
- Varicella (positive titer or vaccination)
- COVID-19 vaccination or signed declination with facility-specific form
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved declination (with masking policy adherence)
- Respirator medical clearance required annually for respirator use (for candidates starting 04/07/2025 and beyond)
- Fit test questionnaire and fit mask test required prior to start
- References: Minimum 2 professional references from employment within 12 months of start
- Employment application with 7 years of complete work history and explanations for gaps over 90 days
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (passing score 80%) within 12 months of start
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (passing score 88%) within 12 months of start, except for certain specialties
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for all RNs except specific exceptions
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual update)
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing required for most RN positions
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted
- No floating or call responsibilities
- Block scheduling is not available
- Weekend work is required every other weekend
- Charge nurse experience is preferred but not mandatory
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of acute inpatient rehab experience who is comfortable with night shifts and weekend rotations, and who meets the comprehensive licensure, certification, and compliance requirements.
