Travel RN - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Location: Brownsville, Texas
Employment Type: Travel

Unit Information

Unit: Neonatal Intensive Care
Number of Beds: 10 NICU, 8 Stepdown
Staffing:
- Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, up to 4 RNs
- Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, up to 4 RNs
Patient Ratios: 1:3 and 1:1
Equipment Used: HFNC, Vents, SiPAP, HFOV, Central Lines, PIV, Feeding Pumps, IV Pumps
EMR System: CPN/Meditech

Job Requirements

Specialty: NICU Level III-IV
Years of Experience Required: 4 years (highest stated requirement)
Certifications Required:
- Registered Nurse License
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- STABLE
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
Preferred Skills:
- Minimum 2 years NICU Level III-IV experience (preferred but less than required 4 years)
Typical Procedures Performed:
- Intubations (performed by provider)
- Chest Tubes, PICC lines, Central Lines (performed by provider)

Work Environment & Expectations

Personality Fit: Works well with others, proactive, willing to help
Floating Areas: Newborn Nursery
Dress Code: Royal Blue scrubs
Schedule: Minimum 6 weekend shifts per month (Friday-Sunday)
