Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (OR RN) - South Carolina, Columbia

Position Details

  • Shift: Day Shift, 3x12 hour shifts (6:30 AM - 7:00 PM)
  • Call Requirements:
    • One to two call days per week starting at 5 PM
    • One call weekend every 5 weeks (Saturday 7 AM to Monday 7 AM; 48 hours total)
  • Floating: Required to float within scope to meet facility needs, including sister units/facilities

Experience & Licensure Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
  • Licenses: South Carolina RN license or Multi-State/Compact RN license
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required for all RNs
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required for MS and ER units
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) as applicable
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) required except for ER RNs
    • NIH Stroke Certification required for ER
  • Radiation Badge: Required and must be provided by the agency for OR and related units

Facility & Work Environment

  • Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital
  • Total Staffed Beds: 304
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Scrubs: Hospital-issued OR scrubs
  • Parking: Available with no fee; parking pass provided at badge pickup

Scheduling & Hours

  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks; called off hours can be broken down but total no more than 1 shift
  • Block Scheduling: Possible with manager approval, dependent on unit needs
  • Local Radius: 60 miles
  • Locals Accepted: Yes

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Background Checks:
    • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
    • Must include SSN trace, statewide, national criminal, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable
    • Background check must be run within 90 days of start
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if verification pending
  • Licensure Verification: Primary source verification required; SC RN license must be active, unencumbered, and no pending actions
  • NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs
  • Work History Verification: Last 3 clinical employers verified; attestation letters accepted only if other verification methods exhausted
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references required; at least one from the same unit preferred
  • Employment Application: Must include all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Must be current within 90 days of start, attesting ability to meet physical demands without restrictions; updated annually
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen required within 90 days of start; no instant tests accepted
  • Immunizations & Titers:
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form required
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; low titers require boosters
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
  • TB Testing: Negative T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days of start; if positive, chest x-ray and annual questionnaire required
  • Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations; documentation must be uploaded by December 5th deadline
  • COVID-19 Vaccination: Not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed
  • Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required via RespSafety virtual questionnaire prior to start

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Orientation: Completion of First Day Instructions (FDI) and OurDay modules prior to start; modules take approximately 2-6 hours depending on location
  • Photo for Badge: Clear, passport-style color photo with solid light background, frontal view, cropped from shoulders up; no hats or sunglasses
  • Radiation Badge: Must be obtained prior to starting patient care; process may take 5-7 days
  • Additional Forms: Confidentiality and security agreements, contractor forms, ID badge request, job description acknowledgment, and physical assessment (if applicable) must be completed prior to start
