CVOR Nurse - Greenville, North Carolina

Employment Type: Long Term
Schedule:

• Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts
• 1 late shift per week
• Minimum 1 “on call” shift per week (Monday-Friday)
• Minimum 1 “on call” weekend per 6-week schedule

Workweek: 40 hours guaranteed workweek (GWW)
Bed Count: 7 CVOR suites
Staffing Ratio: 1:1 RN-to-patient

Patient Population

• Cardiac surgery patients:

  • Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)
  • Valve repair and replacement (including minimally invasive and robotic valves)
  • Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)
  • Left ventricular assist device (LVAD) placement
• Vascular surgery patients:

  • Open and endovascular abdominal aneurysm repair
  • Peripheral vascular procedures
  • Carotid stenting
  • Angioplasty procedures
  • Amputations
• Thoracic surgery patients:

  • Open thoracotomy
  • Video assisted thoracoscopy (VATS)
  • Esophageal and hernia repairs
  • Bronchoscopy and esophagoscopy
  • Robotic procedures

Roles in the Operating Room

• Circulating Nurse:

  • Manages overall nursing care in the OR
  • Maintains a safe and comfortable environment
• Surgical Technologist (ST) / Scrub Nurse:

  • Prepares the OR including sterile field and surgical equipment
  • Passes instruments, fluids, and supplies to the surgeon during surgery
  • Manages sterile field and specimens
  • Performs counts of sponges and supplies with the circulating nurse to prevent retained objects

Note: Scrub experience is preferred but not required; will circulate if not scrubbing.
