Travel RN Opportunity - Cardiovascular Care Unit

Location: Overland Park, Kansas

Unit Overview

• Unit: Cardiovascular Care Unit (28 beds)
• Patient Population: Acute cardiac patients including cath lab cases (ablations, PFO closures, stents, pacers), stroke patients, and PCU overflow as needed
• Patient Ratios: 4-5:1
• Staffing: Unit secretaries and techs available; techs staff the unit as well
• Floating Policy: Can float to like units (Ortho, Neuro, CCU, CDU, SSU, Obs, Rehab)

Equipment & Documentation

• EKG, bladder scanner, sit-to-stand, Hoyer lift, hover mat, Alaris pumps, Pyxis
• Documentation system: Meditech - EBCD

Scheduling

• Minimum 3 shifts per week
• At least every 3rd weekend required

Patient Experience Focus

• Emphasis on Nurse Explain and Nurse Courtesy and Respect (2X2’s)
• Daily Nurse Leader Rounds with pre- and post-round coaching
• Monitoring of whiteboards, room tidiness, safety, and quality measures

Certifications & Requirements

• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Certification
• Licenses: Registered Nurse License
• Years of Experience Required: 1 year in specialty (Cardiac experience is a plus)
• Attitude: Team-oriented, patient-focused, culture fit is important

Procedures & Skills

• Basic medical telemetry procedures performed on unit
• Advanced cardiac skills are a plus but not mandatory

Dress Code

• Royal blue scrub tops
• Royal blue or black pants
• Grey, white, black, or royal blue undershirts

Work Environment

• Unencumbered charge nurse and clinical educator support
• Highly engaged cardiology staff including physicians and cath lab leadership
• Team-oriented staff with a focus on safety and quality
