Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Alamosa, Colorado
Specialty: Registered Nurse (ICU/MS/ED Float Pool)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Role involves floating between ICU, Medical-Surgical (MS), and Emergency Department (ED) units across the main campus and a sister facility 15 minutes away.
  • Candidates must be comfortable floating to all three areas.
  • Patient ratio: 1:2
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
  • No on-call duties
  • Locals accepted
  • Compact license accepted; pending licenses accepted
  • No more than 1 request for time off (RTO) allowed; no RTO within first 2 weeks; max 10 days off; no full calendar weeks off

Experience & Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Prior travel experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
  • Certifications required:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • Preferred certifications: NIH and TNCC
  • Special clinical skills required:
    • Para/thoracentesis
    • Intubation
    • Central line placement
    • Arterial line placement
    • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
    • Care of ventilated patients
  • Must be comfortable working as part of a rapid response team

Work Hours

  • Guaranteed contracted hours
  • 40 hours per week typical

  • Acute Care Hospital setting
  • Charting system: MediTech Expanse
  • Free parking available
  • Scrub color: Employee preference

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Background check within 90 days, updated annually
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start
  • Negative TB test (T-Spot or QuantiFERON Gold) within 45 days of start; PPD not accepted
  • Required vaccinations or titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years)
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer or completed vaccine series)
    • Varicella (titer, vaccines, or history of disease)
  • Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start
  • Flu shot required during flu season (October 1 - March 31); declinations not accepted
  • Colorado CAPS background check required

Additional Notes

  • Must submit all required certifications and licensure with application
  • Floating may include travel to sister facility 15 minutes away as needed
  • No full calendar weeks off allowed during contract
  • Rapid response team includes members from ICU, ED, and MS departments

This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs comfortable with floating across multiple acute care units and meeting specialized clinical skill requirements.
