Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (Travel/Contract)
Location: Greenville, South Carolina
Position Details
- Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: Required to float to other units or campuses as needed, limited to qualified areas with documented competencies
- Patient Population: Adults/Geriatrics
Experience Requirements
- Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
- Additional Experience: Must have Trauma Level 1 experience
- EPIC Charting: Minimum 1 year of EPIC experience required
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted
Licensure & Certifications
- Licensure: Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license for South Carolina required (no pending licenses accepted)
- Required Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
Required Skills & Competencies
- Proficient in Adult Critical Care work settings
- Skilled in:
- Extubation
- Nasal airway placement
- Suctioning (oral and airway)
- Pulmonary hygiene
- Sputum specimen collection
- Tracheostomy care
- Experienced with administration of respiratory medications including albuterol, Atrovent, combivent, flovent, inhaled steroids, ispurel, lidocaine, perforomist, pulmicort, racemic epinephrine, spiriva, terbutaline sulfate, tobramycin, xopenex
- Competent in delivering medication via aerosol setup mask, aerosol setup trach, Medihaler, Metered Dose inhaler
- Experience with handheld, T-piece, and trach collar nebulizers
- Skilled in high flow nasal cannula and trach collar oxygen therapy
- Experience with BiPaP, CPAP, troubleshooting high pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
Scheduling & Policies
- Call Off Policy: Facility allows 1 call off shift per 2 weeks
- RTO, Block & Special Scheduling Requests: Must be submitted with application and approved by facility at booking
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- 7-year background check within 12 months of start required
- Includes SS trace, aliases, all states/counties lived/worked in last 7 years
- Federal and international searches as applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
- Fingerprinting required if applicable (e.g., if lived/worked in WV in last 7 years)
- Education Verification: Highest level of education required; diplomas not accepted as placeholders
- Drug Testing: 5-panel drug screen within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
- Immunizations and titers including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years if working in high-risk areas)
- Negative TB test (True 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot within 90 days)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine or approved exemption required (not required for 100% remote)
- Fit Mask: Respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with specific background and lighting requirements
Training & Testing Requirements
- Online Modules: Must be completed within 72 hours of assignment; required for clearance to start
- Pass/Fail Testing: Medication and Arrhythmia tests required for RNs and certain techs; two attempts allowed with 84% passing score
- Competency Exams: Annual completion required, including medication/pharmacology competency
- Core Training: Annual Core Parts I, II, and III training required, covering universal precautions, cultural diversity, pain management, OSHA, TJC National Patient Safety Goals, and more
- Additional Certifications (if applicable):
- PALS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC, CPI, MAB, NIH Stroke Certification, STABLE, and others depending on unit and role

- Accepts First-Time Travelers: Yes
- Locals Accepted: Yes, subject to radius rule
- Floating Policy: Must be signed and renewed annually
- Orientation: 16 hours non-billable orientation onsite after completion of online modules
- Documentation: All required documents must be current and verifiable prior to start
