Job Opportunity: OB/L&D - RN
Location: Bemidji, Minnesota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Required Experience & Certifications
- Minimum 2 years OB/L&D experience (including Postpartum and Pediatrics)
- Active Minnesota RN license
- Active BLS (AHA) certification required
- Active ACLS (AHA) certification required
- Active NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- PALS certification preferred
- EPIC experience required; if no EPIC, must specify other EMR systems used
- Willingness to float to other units such as Telemetry and Med-Surg
Job Responsibilities
- Care for postpartum, stable antepartum, pediatric patients, newborns, GYN, Med-Surg overflow
- May serve as 2nd RN in Special Care Nursery (SCN)
- Assist in filling schedule vacancies related to staff onboarding, vacancies, and staff on FMLA
- Float to Med-Surg and Tele units as needed
Unit Details
- Patient census varies:
- Average 5 mom/baby couplets
- 2 pediatrics
- 1 GYN
- 2 labor
- 4 SCN patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- 1:3 mom/baby couplets
- 1:5 GYN/Med-Surg patients
- 1:3-4 pediatrics
- Support staff includes ward clerk (7am-7pm), CNA (Tues-Thurs), charge nurse/circulator, resource nurse, and LPN scrub nurse without assignments

- EPIC One Chart
- Acudose
- Philips Vitals Machines
- Bladder Scanner
- Medula Breast Pumps
- Responder 5 Call Light System
- Medfusion Pumps
Schedule & Shift Details
- Variable shifts including days, nights, weekends
- 12-hour night shifts
- Every 3rd weekend and rotating holidays
- Must badge in and out at facility
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
Additional Notes
- Must be willing to float per union contract (travelers are first to float)
- Must be able to work in Labor, Postpartum, Nursery, and Pediatrics units
- Equipment and unit orientation provided on first day
- Prior travel experience is NOT explicitly required for this position
- Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility may have adjusted rates (not included here)
- If previously employed by this health system, must have ended employment at least 6 months prior to application
