Registered Nurse (RN) - Des Moines, Iowa (Temp Contract)

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Specialty & Experience Requirements

• Minimum 24 months (2 years) of Medical Surgical (MS) experience in a hospital or medical center setting
• Neuro/neurology care experience required
• Ortho/orthopedic care experience required
• Trauma care experience highly preferred
• EPIC EMR/electronic medical record experience required
• Drip experience with Heparin, PCA, 3% Sodium/Na required
• EKG/strip reading, measuring, and telemetry experience required
• Experience with specialty equipment such as telemetry, left equipment, chest tubes, and airvo highly preferred

Prior Travel Experience

• No first-time travelers accepted
• Must have completed at least one travel assignment within the previous 12 months

Work History & Documentation

• Resume/employment history must reflect 24 months of current Medical Surgical experience
• Skills checklist specific to Medical Surgical or Medical Surgical/Telemetry discipline required
• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license required at time of submission
• Driver’s license required
• Professional references or performance evaluations from charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the last 24 months preferred

Certifications Required

• ACLS (American Heart Association or ARC/Red Cross)
• BLS (American Heart Association or ARC/Red Cross)
• NIHSS preferred (can be obtained during onboarding)

Unit Information

• 25-bed unit
• Patient types: neurosurgery, craniectomy, orthopedic
• RN ratios: 1:5 to 1:6
• Drips: Heparin, PCA’s, 3% Sodium (no titration)
• Scrubs: Navy Blue
• Float required across multiple campuses

This position is ideal for experienced Medical Surgical RNs with neuro and ortho experience who have prior travel assignments and are comfortable with telemetry and drip management in a fast-paced environment.
