Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (OR) - Travel/Contract

Location: Abilene, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, call required
Travel Requirement: Must live 150 miles or more from the facility


Experience Requirements

  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) - Required for Telemetry RNs
  • State License Verification - Required within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS Verification (RN) - Required within 30 days of start

Background and Compliance Checks

  • 7 Year Background Check required within 1 year of start; update annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • State-specific checks for Texas (DADS Employability Status and Employee Misconduct Registry) required within 30 days of start
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen with THC within 10 business days prior to start; facility conducts additional drug screen on arrival (positive results lead to cancellation)

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract)
  • Fit Mask (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S) within 12 months of start, updated annually
  • TDAP Vaccine within 10 years of start
  • Negative TB or Chest X-Ray (or equivalent testing) within 1 year of start; time sensitive (72 hours of contract signing)
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters if titers negative/equivocal
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series (3), or declination accepted; booster or declination post titer if low/equivocal
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; booster if titers negative/equivocal
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); religious or medical exemptions accepted

  • Candidate must review and sign multiple facility-specific acknowledgments and agreements prior to start, including but not limited to:
    • Vaccination Information Acknowledgment
    • TB and Occupational Exposure Acknowledgment
    • Patient Centered Pledge

    • Computer Security Agreement
    • Corporate Compliance Acknowledgment
    • Confidentiality Statement
    • Employee Misconduct Registry Acknowledgment
    • Self Identify Form
    • Relationship to Physician Form
    • Authorization for Background Check
    • Traveler Identification Form
  • Facility-specific orientation modules (~3-4 hours) required
  • Parking available for orientation and employment

Competency Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must meet or exceed passing score)
  • Color Blind Testing (online Ishihara test accepted)
  • Competency Exam as applicable by profession
