Job Opportunity: Laboratory Specialist (MLS) - Nights

Location: Bel Air, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Shift: Nights, 5x8 hours (11:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Schedule: Every other weekend required; holidays as scheduled
Floating: Not required
On-call: Scheduled on-call not required

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Laboratory experience required
• Blood bank experience required
• First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience NOT required)

Licenses & Certifications

• ASCP certification required
• BLS preferred

Job Details

• Position requires working every other weekend and holidays as scheduled
• Night shift hours: 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• No floating or scheduled on-call duties

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• I9 or Attestation required prior to start
• Government-issued photo ID required
• Background checks including 7-year criminal search, education verification, and various federal/state screenings required within 30 days of start
• Drug testing: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen required within 30-45 days prior to start (instant tests NOT accepted)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Latex Screen
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required depending on unit)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination proof required
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer or declination accepted (series not accepted)
• Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 6 - Mar 31)
• COVID vaccine not required for this location, but documentation or declination collected for tracking

Competency & Training Requirements

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (score 80%+) within 1 year of start
• Color Blind Testing required
• Competency exams as applicable by profession/specialty (score 80%+)
• Age Specific Competency Exam required for all staff (score 80%+)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required for all units except certain exclusions
• Facility-specific orientation and training documents must be reviewed and signed prior to start

References & Work History

• Two professional references required, including at least one supervisor or charge RN
• Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
• Verification of previous 5 years of employment history required (attestation accepted if necessary)

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Confidentiality agreements and facility-specific policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start
• Photo for badge required (passport-style with solid white/beige background)
• OSHA questionnaire and other health and safety documents required
• Parking and vehicle registration documentation to be completed as applicable

This position offers a structured night shift schedule with specific certification and compliance requirements, suitable for MLS professionals with blood bank experience and at least 2 years in the specialty. First-time travel healthcare workers are welcome to apply.
