Job Opportunity: Laboratory Specialist (MLS) - Travel/Contract

Location: Bel Air, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Shift: Evenings, Monday through Friday, 5x8 hours (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM)
Weekends: Not required
Holidays: Required as scheduled
Floating: Not required
On-call: Scheduled on-call not required

• ASCP certification: Required
• BLS: Preferred
• Other certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) may be required depending on unit or specialty but are not specified for this role.

Key Job Details

• Evening shift, block schedule Monday through Friday

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required
• I9 or attestation required prior to start
• Background checks including 7-year criminal search, SSN trace, nationwide checks, education verification, and state-specific exclusions (Maryland Medicaid Sanctioned Providers List)
• Drug screening: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen required within 30-45 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Latex screening
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (requirements vary by unit)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination proof required
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer or declination accepted (series not accepted)
• Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
• COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation may be collected for tracking
• Two professional references required, including at least one supervisor or charge RN
• Employment application/resume within 30 days of start
• Verification of previous 5 years of employment history

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Confidentiality agreement and various facility-specific documents must be signed prior to start
• Badge photo required (passport-style with solid background)
• Completion of facility orientation and competency exams as applicable
• Review and sign facility policies including appearance standards, business conduct, fingernail hygiene, and OSHA questionnaire
• Unit-specific job description must be signed prior to start

Summary

This is a travel/contract position for a Medical Laboratory Scientist with at least 2 years of experience. The role is evening shift only, Monday through Friday, with no weekend or on-call requirements. ASCP certification is mandatory, and BLS is preferred. The position welcomes first-time travelers. Comprehensive background checks, immunizations, and compliance documentation are required before starting.
