Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Labor/Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum)
Location: Cairo, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Job Description
- Work in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum units
- Facility handles approximately 210-230 deliveries per year
- 5 labor/delivery/recovery/postpartum rooms and 10 bassinets
- Night shifts with some weekends and holidays required
- Minimal to no Return to Office (RTO) days allowed (must be included on submission)
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certificate (Advanced Fetal Monitoring also accepted)
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 1 year recent Labor & Delivery experience required
- Nursery experience (Level 1-2) required
- Skills: Newborn Care, Postpartum Care, Labor and Delivery, IV Starts, Medical Screening Exam, Vaginal Exams
- Previous travel experience preferred but not required
Systems Used
- EMR: Cerner
- Fetal Monitoring System: PeriWatch
Dress Code
- Royal Blue scrubs required (not provided)
Documentation and Compliance Requirements
Background Checks & Verifications
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Must include SSN Trace, Counties, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level 3, Nationwide checks
- Education verification required for all candidates (Diploma or Transcript accepted)
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs
- Primary source verification of state license required
- Employment application and skills checklist must be completed and updated annually
- Two recent supervisor/manager level references required (within 12 months)
- Performance and internal evaluations required if worked with the agency over 1 year
Health & Safety
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Fit test completed onsite at no cost
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for L&D and Mother & Baby)
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT within 30 days; no PPDs accepted) or chest X-ray if past positive
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines (declination form accepted if negative)
- Hepatitis B: Titer, series, or declination
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (declination form accepted if negative)
- Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (9/3 through 3/31) unless approved medical/religious exemption is provided
Facility Specific Requirements
- Completion of assigned HealthStream modules prior to first day
- Submission of a professional photo for badge within 24 hours of signing contract
- Compliance with facility dress code and flu exemption forms if applicable
- Various facility-specific forms (e.g., IS115, IS119) must be completed and signed with wet ink or DocuSign
State Specific
- Georgia fingerprinting requirements apply (GCHEXS system) with a 30-day grace period to obtain results
Summary
This is a 13-week travel contract for a Labor/Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum RN position in Cairo, Georgia. Candidates must have at least 1 year of recent L&D experience and nursery experience. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, NRP, and fetal monitoring. Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory. The role requires night shifts, some weekends, and holidays. Compliance with extensive background checks, health screenings, immunizations, and facility-specific documentation is mandatory.
