Job Opportunity: Radiology / Cardiology Technologist

Location: Lake Forest, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Description

  • Must have cardiac cath experience.
  • On-call requirement: 7-8 days per month including weekends.
  • Weekend work required.
  • Meal break length: 30 minutes.
  • Holiday on-call only; holiday requests should be made upon hiring.
  • Will interview prior to hiring.

Required Qualifications

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology with at least 2 years of experience in cath lab/interventional radiology.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role within an active interventional lab such as IR or EP lab.
  • Must be fully knowledgeable in cardiovascular procedural functions including:
    • PTCA (coronary angioplasty)
    • Coronary Stenting
    • Intra-Aortic Balloon placement
    • Temporary and Permanent Pacemaker insertion
    • Atherectomy
    • Intra-vascular Ultrasound (IVUS)
    • Thrombectomy (use of Pronto device)
    • FFR/Pressure Wire
    • Management of Arterial and Venous Sheaths

Education & Certifications

  • Associate Degree in Applied Sciences required.
  • ARRT Certification required.
  • IEMA Licensure required.
  • BLS through American Heart Association required.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required (AHA or RQI accepted).
  • Tech Cert Verification (National) required within 30 days of start.
  • State License primary source verification required within 30 days of start.
  • NURSYS Verification required for RNs within 30 days of start.

Licenses & Compliance

  • Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry eligibility required (fingerprinting must be completed in Illinois).
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal background, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, education verification, and state-specific searches required within 30 days of start.
  • Drug testing: 10-panel drug screen required within 30 days of start.
  • Physical exam required within 1 year of start, confirming good health and no physical limitations.
  • Fit mask testing required within 12 months of start and updated annually.
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years (TD not accepted)
    • Negative TB or chest X-ray documentation
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive IgG titer or 2 vaccines with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B vaccine series or positive IgG titer (declinations accepted)
    • Varicella: Positive IgG titer or 2 vaccines with boosters if needed
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
    • COVID vaccination series or declination required

Additional Requirements

  • Employment history covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
  • Skills checklist required annually.
  • Competency exam with passing score required.
  • Color blind testing required (passing score of 70% or higher).
  • Completion of facility-specific documents including confidentiality, privacy policy, information security, cannabis acknowledgment, sexual harassment training, and policy acknowledgments prior to start.
  • Accommodation request forms available for vaccine or fit test exemptions; must be submitted promptly for review.

Work Environment & Expectations

  • On-call 7-8 days per month including weekends.
  • Holiday on-call only, with holiday requests made at hiring.
  • Staff collaboration on holiday scheduling.
