Job Description
- First Timers Welcome (Pending Oregon RN License)
- Float Between Units: Yes
- On-Call: Yes, typically 2 days a week plus some weekends on rotation
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, call shift rotation from Friday 0630 to Monday 0630
- Block Schedules: No
- Patient Ratios: Blended pre-anesthesia/PACU department with staffing based on patient acuity and ASPAN/state regulations
- Call Sharing: Equally shared by RNs, weekday call starts between 1530-1800 and ends at 0600
- 48-Hour Approval: No
- Facility Type: Critical Access
- Total Staffed Beds: 23
- Charting System: Epic
- Parking: No fee
Experience Requirements
- Specialty Experience: Must be proficient in pre-anesthesia and post-anesthesia care (PACU).

- CHEMO (Chemotherapy Certification) – Verify if required based on clinical track
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – If required by unit, AWHONN or NCC-EFM certification acceptable
- IV Certification (if applicable)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (if applicable)
- NIH Stroke Certification (if applicable)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) (if applicable)
- State License: Valid Oregon RN license required
- NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background Check: Within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
- E-Verify Attestation: Required
- Social Security Card: Required for verification
- Drivers License/State ID: Government-issued photo ID required
- Education Verification: Required for nursing degree; international education requires transcript/diploma
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting
- Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating fitness to work
- Fit Mask: Required for travel starts on or after 2/5/2024; must be updated annually
- Immunizations:
- TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
- Hepatitis B – vaccination series or signed declination
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
- Flu Vaccine – required during flu season or declination
- COVID Vaccine or declination
Work and Scheduling Details
- Floating: May be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
- Call Shifts: Friday 0630 to Monday 0630, plus weekday call 2 days/week
- Weekend Work: Required on rotation
- Charting: Epic electronic health record system
Competency and Training Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required as applicable
- Competency Exams: Required as applicable by specialty
- Color Blind Testing: May be required on a unit basis
- Skills Checklist: Annual update required for applicable units
- WorkRamp Modules:
- Oregon Core Modules for RNs/LPNs required prior to start
- Specialty-specific modules for PACU and Perioperative nursing
- Annual regulatory and facility-specific training modules required
- Epic Training: Completion of Epic modules required prior to or shortly after start
Additional Notes
- Call is shared equally among RNs in the blended PACU/Pre-Anesthesia unit.
- No 48-hour approval for overtime or extended shifts.
- Parking is free for staff.
- Scrub color: Any color allowed for outpatient PT; OR/L&D scrubs provided.
This position is ideal for RNs with PACU and pre-anesthesia experience looking for a travel contract in a critical access hospital setting in Oregon. First-time travelers are welcome.
