Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Seaside, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Unit: PACU and Pre-Anesthesia Combined Unit
- Floating: Yes, position floats between units
- On-Call: Yes, typically 2 days a week plus some weekends on rotation
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, call shift rotation from Friday 0630 to Monday 0630
- Block Schedules: No
- Patient Ratios: Blended pre-anesthesia/PACU environment requiring clinical judgment based on patient acuity and nursing observations, aligned with ASPAN standards and state staffing regulations
Experience Requirements
- Years of Specialty Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 1 year or more based on typical RN PACU requirements

Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification

- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
- Other Certifications: Chemotherapy, Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM), IV Certification, Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB), NIH Stroke Certification, CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) as applicable per unit and UD (Unit Descriptor) requirements
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Check: Within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
- Education Verification: Required for all candidates; international education requires diploma/transcript or CES report
- State License Verification: NURSYS verification required for all RNs
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations & Health Documents:
- TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respiratory Safety Clearance: Required for all new travel starts, medically cleared annually for respirator use
- Fit Mask Testing: Required for travel starts, updated annually; onsite testing available if needed
Work Environment & Scheduling
- Facility Type: Critical Access Hospital
- Total Staffed Beds: 23
- Charting System: Epic
- Scrub Color: Any color allowed (OR/L&D scrubs provided)
- Parking: No fee
- Call Shifts: Shared equally by RNs, typically 2 days a week plus some weekends
- Call Shift Hours: Weekday call starts between 1530-1800 and ends at 0600; weekend call from Friday 0630 to Monday 0630
- 48-Hour Approval: Not approved
Additional Notes
- Floating Policy: Acknowledgement required; may float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting
- Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format
- Skills Checklist: Required annually for applicable units
- Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology competency exam and other specialty-specific competency exams as applicable
- WorkRamp Modules: Completion of required Providence WorkRamp training modules prior to start, including core, specialty, and regulatory modules based on region and specialty
This position is suitable for RNs with PACU and pre-anesthesia care experience who are comfortable with floating and on-call rotations, including weekends. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
