Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Stockbridge, Georgia
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of specialty experience required
- Prior travel experience required (1st timers not accepted)
Patient Population
- Adults to Geriatrics
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
Clinical Skills & Work Setting
- Overflow IMCU (Intermediate Care Unit)
- Arrhythmia management, cardioversion
- Cardiac conditions: CHF, chest pain, renal, pulmonary (COPD, pulmonary edema), PE, DVT
- Cardiac arrhythmias: stable A-Fib, SVT, bradycardia
- Surgical patients: cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains
- Occasional vascular patients, post cardiac cath, TR bands
- DKA management
- Occasional ortho or CVA patient overflow (transferred ASAP)
- Experience with cardiac drips and hemodynamic monitoring post PCI required
- Med/Surg umbrella care
- Basic arrhythmia and cardiac drip knowledge (amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, nitroglycerin, milrinone, heparin, argatroban, aggrastat, bumex, lasix)
Unit & Work Environment
- Ratio: 1:5-6
- 32 beds
- Unit systems: Epic (preferred), Pyxis, SBAR
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- Floating within the facility required
- Call is rare; 2-hour response time
- Travelers typically do not manage Precedex sedation (core staff responsibility)
- Weekend shifts: every other weekend
- Holiday work expectations:
- If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler expected to work it
- If 2 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work both
- If 3 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work 2 of them
- Major holidays include New Year’s, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas
Orientation & Compliance
- Maximum Return to Office (RTO): 7 days
- Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance push start by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Number of Non-Billable Orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 14 weeks = 14 hours)
Required Documentation & Screening
- Background check within 30 days of start (including education verification)
- Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
- State license verification within 30 days prior to start (must be licensed in Georgia)
- Annual NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months of start; TB questionnaire required annually
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B series or signed declination
- Flu vaccine or declination (strongly encouraged during flu season)
- Color blind testing required
- Competency exams required:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (3 attempts allowed; failure results in cancellation)
- General competency exam for nursing/allied health
Additional Notes
- Clinical screen required to determine fit before final approval
- Locals accepted at same rate
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies including Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy
This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with strong cardiac and med/surg skills who meet the certification and compliance requirements and have prior travel experience.
