Description

Job Summary: Registered Nurse (Med-Surg/Telemetry) - Travel/Contract

Location: Shiloh, Illinois
Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital (Magnet recognized)
Unit: Med-Surg/Telemetry (MS/Tele)
Shift: 12-hour day shifts (06:45 AM to 07:15 PM), 3 days per week, every other weekend
Patient Ratio: 1:4-5
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Experience & Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse with Med-Surg/Cardiac Telemetry experience
  • Required Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in Med-Surg-Cardiac/Telemetry
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-timers accepted)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Floating: May be required to float between Belleville and Shiloh locations and within the facility
  • Local Radius Rule: 75 miles
  • Pending License: Not accepted
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (3 shifts of 12 hours)
  • Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
  • On-call: Not required

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (check unit-specific requirements)

Compliance & Background Checks

  • Government-issued ID required
  • Criminal background check within 6 months (7-year search including statewide, nationwide, sex offender, and international if applicable)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks quarterly
  • Fingerprinting required for assignments at or floating to long-term care or rehab units in Illinois
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree required (cannot pend at start)
  • State-specific exclusion and sanction list checks required for Illinois placements
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include a comprehensive panel and be valid throughout assignment
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required for APN candidates)
  • Fit mask testing required annually (N95 respirators)
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2 negative PPDs or equivalent)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (09/30 - 04/01)

Competencies & Documentation

  • Unit-specific competency exams required annually (including oncology competency if applicable)
  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required
  • Color blind testing online required
  • Skills checklist within 1 year of start (oncology skills checklist if applicable)
  • Employment application and professional references required
  • Performance evaluations may be requested but not mandatory for extensions or per diem

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must review and sign facility policies including HIPAA, hand hygiene, dress code, fingernail, and confidentiality prior to start
  • Orientation modules required for all RNs and LVNs, completed through online platform before start
  • Candidates must have a photo badge meeting facility standards (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
  • RTO (Return to Office) restrictions: 7 days within the 13-week contract

This position is suitable for nurses with at least 1 year of Med-Surg/Telemetry experience who are open to travel assignments and meet the certification and compliance requirements listed above.
