Job Opportunity: Surgical Services (Travel/Contract)

Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Contract Length: 16 weeks

Job Details

• Schedule: Weekend only
• Unit: Sensitive Unit with service lines including Bariatrics, Urology, Neurology, ENT, Oral, Plastics, Transplant, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, GYN, and Orthopedics
• Call: Variable, to be discussed during interview
• Floating: Within facility/scope of practice and to Outpatient as needed
• Holidays: No holiday RTO approved; blackout dates 11/23-11/29 and 12/21-1/3
• Minimum Specialty Experience: 3 years of Operating Room experience required prior to travel
• Required Surgical Experience: Must have experience in Neurology, Transplant, General Surgery, GYN, and Orthopedics
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted
• Clinical Screening: Candidate will be reviewed for clinical fit before final decision
• Orientation: Bi-weekly orientation schedule; full compliance required to start on time
• RTO (Return to Office): Maximum 7 days allowed
• Locals Accepted: Yes, at the same rate

Required Experience

• Specialty: Surgical Services
• Years of Experience: Minimum 3 years in Operating Room, including Neurology, Transplant, General Surgery, GYN, and Orthopedics
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required

Certifications & Licenses

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for applicable specialties
• BLS (Basic Life Support): Required
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for RNs in PACU, Pre-op, Endo, CSU (if pediatric patients accepted), and ER
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required if applicable
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Online course required within a few months of hire (no re-certification required)
• State License: Must be licensed by the State of Georgia (if applicable)
• NURSYS Verification: Annual verification required for RN, LPN/LVN, AP
• Tech Certification Verification: National allied license verification within 30 days prior to start (if applicable)

Compliance & Competencies

• Background Check: Required within 30 days of start, including criminal, sex offender, education verification, and others
• Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending
• Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start
• TB Testing: PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months of start; additional requirements if past positive test
• Vaccinations:

  • Flu vaccine or declination required (seasonal)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer required
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required
  • Hepatitis B: Series, surface antibody titer, or signed declination required
• Competency Exams:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (for RNs and LVNs)
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (for applicable specialties)
  • General competency exam for Nursing and Allied (Aya only)

Additional Requirements

• References: 2 clinical references required (Aya requirement)
• Skills Checklist: Updated within 12 months
• Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof of processing
• Facility Policies: Candidates must review and sign Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start

• Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 16 weeks = 16 hours)
• Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to avoid delays in start date
• Floating assignments may include outpatient areas within the facility
