Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 14 weeks

Job Details

• Schedule: Weekend every other week
• Call: None
• Floating: Within facility/scope of practice as needed
• Minimum Experience: 1 year (unit accepts first-time travelers)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required

Holiday Work Expectations

• If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler is expected to work it.
• If 2 major holidays fall, traveler must work both.
• If 3 major holidays fall, traveler must work two of them.
• Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day

Compliance & Orientation

• Full compliance required to start on time.
• If not compliant, start date pushed back 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule.
• Orientation hours vary by contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment).

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of specialty experience as a Registered Nurse.

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for RNs in many specialties including ER, PACU, Critical Care, Labor & Delivery, etc.
• BLS (Basic Life Support): Required for RNs.
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for RNs in PACU, ER, and other pediatric-accepting areas.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required if applicable by specialty.
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Online course required within a few months of hire for applicable staff.
• State License: Must be licensed in Georgia.
• NURSYS Verification: Annual verification required within 30 days prior to start.
• Tech Cert Verification: National certification verification if applicable.

Competency Exams

• Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for RNs).
• Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates; alternative assessment available if needed).
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Telemetry, ICU, ER, and related specialties).
• General Competency Exam (required for Nursing by Aya).

Health Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with specific protocols for past positives).
• TB Questionnaire updated annually.
• Immunizations:

  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer with booster protocols.
  • Hepatitis B series or signed declination.
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster protocols.
• Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant acceptable under certain conditions).
• Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31).

Documentation & Verification

• Background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification.
• Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process.
• Work history verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process.
• Two clinical references required.
• Skills checklist updated within 12 months.

Additional Notes

• Locals accepted at the same rate.
• Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start.
• Floating assignments within the facility as needed.

This position is suitable for Registered Nurses with at least 1 year of experience, including first-time travel nurses, who are prepared to comply with facility requirements and certifications.
