Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Shift: 4x10-hour shifts, Monday-Thursday, 12 PM - 10 PM
- On Call: Rotation with staff required
- Holiday: Must be available to work one holiday per 13-week contract (rotational)
- Accepts First-Time Travelers: Yes
- Locals Accepted: No (radius restrictions apply)
- License: Virginia state license required; active state license accepted with emergency authorization while VA license processes
Required Experience & Skills
- Years of Experience: OR experience required (implies prior experience in Operating Room settings)
- Clinical Skills:
- Abdomen: Abdomen decubitus, supine (KUB), upright
- Upper Extremity: AC joints, clavicle, elbow, forearm, hand, humerus, scapula, shoulder, thumb/finger, trauma shoulder/humerus, trauma upper extremity (non-shoulder), wrist
- Lower Extremity: Ankle, calcaneus, femur, foot, knee, patella, tibia-fibula, toes, trauma lower extremity
- Head/Chest: Chest AP, upper airway, facial bones, paranasal sinuses, skull
- Spine/Pelvis: Cervical, lumbar, thoracic spine, hip, pelvis, sacrum/coccyx
- Work Settings: OR, Adult Acute Care, Outpatient, bedside/portable, ER, ICU, Pediatrics, PICU
- Patient Population: Neonates, infants, adolescents, adults, pediatrics, geriatrics
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ARRT(R) (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Radiography)
Preferred Qualifications
- Epic experience preferred
Prior Travel Experience
- Not required (accepts first-time travelers)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- I9 or attestation
- Driver’s License/State ID with address within 100 miles of facility
- E-Verify or attestation
- Background Check: 7-year history within 1 year of start, including education verification
- Various federal and state background checks (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
- Physical Exam within 1 year, free from communicable diseases
- Fit Mask test within 1 year, updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Immunizations or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Flu vaccination or declination form during flu season
- 2 clinical references required
- Complete employment application/resume
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Radiation badge supplied by client (not provided by agency)
Additional Notes
- Must comply with on-call and call-off policies (facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks)
- Must complete orientation and safety manuals prior to start
- Various unit-specific certifications may be required depending on assignment (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC)
This position is ideal for X-Ray Technologists with OR experience looking for a travel contract in a Level I Trauma Center with diverse patient populations and a variety of clinical settings.
