Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Rochester, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

Seeking a Registered Nurse with at least 3 years of experience in specialty areas including General OR, Gastric bypass, Vascular, Neuro, GYN/Urology, Thoracic, Ortho-total joint and trauma, and more. This role requires a diverse skill set across multiple surgical and procedural areas.

Required Certifications & Skills

• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) as required
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) as required
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) as required
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for all RNs except birthing units & OR)
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
  • State License Verification (Primary Source Verification within 30 days of start)
  • NURSYS Verification (for RN) within 30 days of start

• Skills:
  Extensive experience with surgical procedures including but not limited to:

  • Laparoscopic assisted cases, Gastric bypass, Sleeve, Lap band
  • Vascular surgeries such as Aortic Aneurysm repair, Carotid angioplasty, Endovascular Aneurysm Repair
  • Thoracic surgeries including Lung resection, Thoracotomy, VATS
  • Neuro procedures including Craniotomy, VP shunt insertion, Laminectomy/discectomy, Spinal Fusion
  • Ortho/Spine surgeries including Total joint replacement, Arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction
  • Gynecological and Urological procedures
  • Code response, Fire Safety, Latex Allergy management
  • Administration of blood & blood products, Infection control, Radiation and Laser Safety
  • Universal Protocol (Time out) Procedure, Urinary bladder catheterization

• Preferred: EPIC experience

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of specialty experience as a Registered Nurse
• Prior travel experience: Not required

Health & Compliance Requirements

Candidates must complete health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing the contract, including but not limited to:

• Physical Exam (within 1 year, updated annually)
• Fit Mask test (annual)
• Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (within 1 year)
• Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Drug Testing (within 30 days of start)
• Flu Seasonal Vaccination or signed declination (during flu season)
• Eye Exam (Snellen, within 1 year)
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Background & Verification Requirements

• Government Issued Photo ID required
• 7 Year Criminal Background Check (felony checks) within 3 months of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, run monthly
• Education verification from primary source (no hard copies)
• Foreign equivalency evaluation if applicable
• Transcript/Diploma if no education verification on file
• Employment verification of at least 2 past employments
• References (2 within 3 years) required for Aya candidates
• Facility-specific documents including photo for badge and pre-employment compliance attestations

State Specific Requirements (New York)

• NYS Nurse Aide Registry (if applicable) within 3 months of start
• NYS Criminal Background Check Fingerprint Results (for certain units)
• Disciplinary Action Search (for certain units)
• Sex Offender Registry Search within 30 days of start
• NY Medicaid Exclusion List check within 3 months of start, run monthly
