Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics - Travel/Contract

Location: North Providence, Rhode Island
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Shift: 0700-1900, 3 shifts per week, 12-hour day shifts
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (RRT)
• Required Years of Experience: 1 year (highest requirement)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (unit accepts first-time travelers)

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - preferably AHA or ARC
• CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - preferred
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - as applicable
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as applicable
• State License verification required

Patient Population

• Neonates
• Infants
• Pediatrics
• Adolescents
• Adults
• Geriatrics

Preferred patient diagnoses focus on Neonates, Infants, and Pediatrics.

Unit and Special Procedures

• Emergency Department (all age groups)
• Inpatient units primarily adults: 3 med/surg units, 1 ICU, 1 acute rehab, 1 geriatric psych, 1 adult psych, 1 long-term psych unit

Required Skills and Procedures:

• Airway management
• Medication administration
• Ventilator management
• Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
• Oxygen therapy
• Suctioning
• Pulmonary toileting
• Bronchoscopy assistance
• Nebulizer treatments
• BiPAP and CPAP management

Special Equipment:

• Servo I ventilator

Patient Care Setting

• Emergency Department
• Adult ICU

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
• Emergency Contact Form
• Background Check (including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender registry) within 1 year
• EPLS/GSA/SAM checks annually
• HHS/OIG checks annually
• Fingerprinting required for Rhode Island (NCIC/BCI) for RRTs, new prints required for each assignment
• Physical exam within 1 year
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • Tdap within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B titer, declination, or vaccine series
  • Varicella vaccination, positive titer, or provider documentation
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved declination (mask required if declined)
• Drug screening (9 panel) after position acceptance
• Respiratory Safety Clearance (RespSafety) annually
• Confidentiality and technology access agreements prior to start
• Facility-specific orientation and testing packets prior to start

References and Competencies

• 2 professional references for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles (within 3 years)
• Annual skills checklist required
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable (minimum 80% passing score)
• Color blindness testing for lab candidates (100% passing score)

Additional Notes

• No prior permanent or staff experience required
• Unit accepts first-time travelers
• Religious and medical exemptions available for COVID-19 booster with client approval

This position is ideal for Respiratory Therapists with at least 1 year of experience looking for a travel contract in a diverse patient care environment including pediatrics and adult critical care.
