Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Odessa, Texas
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
Unit: High risk Level III NICU


Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in NICU nursing
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) and STABLE certification required

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA accepted
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA accepted
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA accepted
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required as applicable
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy) - Required as applicable
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required as applicable
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - Required as applicable
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) - Required as applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification - Required as applicable
  • State Nursing License verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS Verification within 30 days of start
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for RNs
  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual update)
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing (required for RNs)

Background Checks & Compliance

  • 7-year background check required within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
  • HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days of start; plan for completion within 72 hours of contract signing
  • Employment Application and Resume required
  • 2 professional references within 3 years of start
  • Skills Checklist (annual update)

Health Requirements

  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start, must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
  • Fit Mask test within 1 year, updated annually (N-95 or Halyard Orange Duckbill masks accepted)
  • Immunizations and Titers (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing):
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB or Chest X-Ray (PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 1 year; Chest X-Ray within 2 years if positive)
    • Rubeola (Measles) - Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Mumps - Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Rubella - Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Hepatitis B - Positive titer, series (3), or declination accepted
    • Varicella - Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
  • Flu Seasonal Vaccination or Declination during flu season (Oct-April); mask required if declined

  • Completion of facility-specific documents including:
    • Notice of Employment
    • Standards of Conduct
    • Dress Code Policy Acknowledgement
    • Agency Checklist
    • Standards of Behavior
    • COVID Declination (if applicable)
    • HIPAA and Fair Warning Quiz Modules (within 72 hours of signing)
    • Orientation and Safety Training Modules (within 72 hours of signing)
    • Annual TB Questionnaire (updated if gap >30 days)
  • Completion of various facility-required forms prior to start (e.g., Health Record Form, Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Statement, Information System Security Agreement, Non-Employee Orientation Update, Traveler Orientation)
