  • 8 and 10 hour shifts: 40 hours/week
  • 3 shifts of 12 hours: 36 hours/week
  • 4 shifts of 12 hours: 48 hours/week

Unit Information

• Focus on patient prep for discharge home or transfer to another facility
• Collaborative work with nursing, case management, occupational therapy (OT), and speech therapy (ST)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
• Background Checks (within 30-90 days of start) including criminal, education verification, and federal exclusions
• Education Verification (highest applicable education)
• Certifications verification (BLS required, ACLS, PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, NIH Stroke, etc. as applicable)
• Competency Exams including medication/pharmacology and unit competency
• Facility-specific documents and compliance checklists (to be completed prior to start)
• Physical Exam (within 12 months of start)
• Fit Mask Test (N95 or approved respirators, within 12 months)
• Immunizations and Titers:

  • TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Preferred but not required
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/30 - 3/31)
• Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen (within 12 months)
• Color Blind Exam (Ishihara or equivalent)
• References: Minimum 2 from recent employment verified within 2 years
• Employment Application: Current with full work history and explanations for gaps
• Skills Checklist: Required within 12 months and annually thereafter

Additional Notes

• IU Health will not allow Indiana RNs to work at their facilities effective 11/30/24, except for Periop/OR RN’s, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers.
• On-site Fit Testing is limited and must be approved; PAPR use requires prior approval except at certain campuses.
• Candidates must complete all facility-specific forms and orientation packets as a priority before starting.

This position is suitable for physical therapists with at least 1 year of experience who are comfortable working in an inpatient acute care setting with a diverse patient population and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. First-time travel therapists are welcome to apply.
