Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA provider or AHA RQI only (No RQI provider like Laerdal)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA provider or AHA RQI only (No RQI provider like Laerdal)
- NIHSS – Preferred but not required
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in ICU nursing or comparable/higher acuity area.
- Prior travel experience not explicitly required.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Driver’s License/State ID – Required for all candidates.
- Background Checks:
- 7-year background check including aliases, sex offender, national and federal criminal checks, FACIS III, education verification, and international checks if applicable.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
- Education Verification: ADN or BSN required; diploma/transcripts acceptable if verification unavailable.
- Fingerprinting: Required only if candidate does not hold an Illinois state license; must be done in Illinois and added to the Illinois Department of Public Health Registry.
- NURSYS Verification: Required within 30 days of assignment start for RNs.
- References: 2 references required.
- Employment Application: Resume covering last 7 years, with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
- Skills Checklist: Required for assigned and float units; updated annually.
- Work History Verification: 7 years of employment verification required, completed 2 Fridays prior to start.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year, updated annually, confirming good health.
- Fit Mask Test: Required within 1 year of start (3M 1860 S/R, 1870+, or 9205+ masks). Onsite fit testing available if needed.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Proof within 10 years or declination; must be completed within 2 business days of contract signing.
- TB Testing: Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 1 year, updated annually. Positive TB requires clear chest X-ray and questionnaire. Must be completed within 2 business days of contract signing.
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Proof of positive IGG titer or completed 2-dose vaccination series (28 days apart). Booster required if non-reactive or equivocal. Must be completed within 2 business days of contract signing.
- Hepatitis B: Proof of positive IGG titer or completed 3-dose vaccination series; declination allowed. Must be completed within 2 business days of contract signing.
- Varicella: Proof of positive IGG titer or 2 vaccinations (28 days apart) or declination. Booster required if non-reactive or equivocal. Must be completed within 2 business days of contract signing.
- Drug Testing: 9-panel minimum within 30 days of start, updated annually. Rapid drug screens not allowed.
- Flu Vaccination: Required for flu season (10/1 to 3/31). Religious or medical exemptions require facility approval. Declinations not accepted.
Additional Notes
- COVID-19 and Influenza religious and medical exemption forms must be completed and approved at least one week prior to documentation due date.
- Photo for badge required (passport style, plain background, no headgear).
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific documentation and verification processes.
This position offers a structured ICU nursing role with a 1:2 patient ratio, requiring standard critical care certifications and compliance with comprehensive health and background screening protocols. Prior travel experience is not mandatory, making it suitable for first-time travel nurses.
