Job Description

• Position in Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) and Telemetry units, with possible float to Acute Rehab and other units within scope of practice.
• May be asked to work as a backup Charge Nurse.
• Coordinates total nursing care for patients and participates in patient and family teaching.
• Provides leadership and works cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel to maintain professional nursing standards.
• Nurse to patient ratio: 1 to 4/5.
• Average daily patient census: 22.
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: Cerner.
• Orientation: 8 hours non-billable.
• Call-back, holiday, and overtime multipliers apply.

Requirements

• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years recent Medical-Surgical and Rehabilitation nursing experience.
  • Charge Nurse experience is required.
  • Prior travel experience of at least 3 months is required.
• Licensure & Certifications:

  • New Hampshire RN license or Compact RN license required.
  • Active American Heart Association BLS certification required.
  • Active American Heart Association ACLS certification required.
• Education:

  • BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) strongly preferred.
• Other:

  • Must be willing to float to other units as needed within scope of practice.
  • Must have own vehicle due to lack of public transportation in the community.
  • Local travelers residing within 50 miles are not eligible.
  • No block scheduling or schedule accommodations will be considered.
  • Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved at time of application; no more than 5 days allowed.
  • Strict attendance policy: after 3 call-offs, contract may be terminated. Call-offs must be communicated at least 1.5 hours in advance.

Profile Documentation Required

• Work history demonstrating Medical-Surgical skills current to within 1 year.
• Signed supervisory reference from within the past 2 years.
• Required licenses and certifications uploaded with profile.
• All scheduling requests and time off must be included at submission.

• Small 35-bed critical access community hospital with 25 inpatient medical-surgical beds and a 10-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit.

Summary

This is a 13-week temporary RN position on nights in a Med Surg/Telemetry setting requiring at least 2 years of recent Med Surg/Rehab experience, charge nurse experience, and prior travel experience. The role demands flexibility to float between units, strong leadership, and adherence to strict scheduling and attendance policies. Candidates must have appropriate licensure, certifications, and reliable transportation.
