Nursing Contract Opportunity - Massachusetts, Athol

Position Overview

• Employment Type: Contract
• Location: Athol, Massachusetts
• Specialty: Nursing (Med-Surg focus with telemetry and skilled nursing preferred)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide patient care based on standards of care, protocols, and policies.
• Conduct nursing assessments, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions and patient goals.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Respond immediately and appropriately in emergency situations.
• Ensure compliance with hospital regulations, accreditation, and licensure requirements.
• Advocate for patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Perform medication administration and intravenous therapy safely according to orders and protocols.
• Assess and manage patient pain levels, documenting responses and notifying physicians as needed.
• Conduct pre-admission testing and coordinate ancillary testing for Med/Surg and day surgery patients, including blood draws and EKGs.
• Review pre-operative orders and test results, communicating abnormalities to appropriate providers.
• Provide emotional support to patients undergoing surgery or changes in body image/activity level.
• Document thoroughly and provide timely reports to healthcare team members.
• Promote learning and professional development for self and colleagues.
• Identify and report patient safety risks and medical errors.
• Delegate and supervise nursing interventions performed by others.
• Prioritize patient care and seek assistance or reassign personnel as necessary.

Physical and Behavioral Requirements

• Physical demands include occasional lifting (20-50 lbs), frequent handling and reaching, occasional stooping and kneeling.
• Behavioral attributes required: achievement motivation, flexibility, initiative, self-confidence, customer service orientation, teamwork, analytical thinking, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Licenses: Current Massachusetts RN License required.
• Certifications: ACLS upon hire OR active BLS with ACLS obtained within 60 days of hire.
• Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year Med-Surg experience preferred.
  • Telemetry experience preferred.
  • Skilled Nursing experience preferred.
  • Basic Dysrhythmia Course completion within 6 months if no telemetry experience.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks
