Job Opportunity: MRI Technologist (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: Monday, Tuesday, Friday from 3 PM to 3 AM
- Patient Age Group: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
- First-Time Travelers: Accepted
- Local Candidates: Accepted (within 75 miles)
- Orientation: Bi-weekly sessions
- Flu Vaccine: Required, no exemptions or declinations accepted
Experience & Certification Requirements
- Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years in Radiology / Cardiology specialty
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required
- Required Certifications:
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) - Radiography (R) and Magnetic Resonance (MR)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certified
- Equipment Experience: Must have experience with both GE and Siemens MRI equipment
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background Checks:
- Must be completed within 90 days of start
- Includes SSN trace, county searches, alias searches, nationwide, sex offender, international (if applicable), education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Education Verification:
- Must have graduated from an accredited Radiologic Sciences program with an AAS or higher
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask (N95 or equivalent) within 12 months
- Immunizations: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years), Measles, Mumps, Rubella (vaccines or positive titers, no exemptions), Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination), Varicella (vaccines or positive titer)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Flu vaccination for the 2025-26 season (mandatory for new candidates starting October-March)
- Drug test: Negative 10-panel within 30 days of start (no instant tests)
- References: Two professional references required from employment within the last 12 months, at least one must be a supervisor
- Employment Application: Required with 7 years of work history
Additional Requirements
- Competency Exams: Unit-specific competency exam required
- Pass/Fail Testing: Basic tech knowledge test at orientation (passing grade 80%)
- Guest Account: Must set up a Duke Guest Account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems
- Mandatory Facility-Specific Documents: Includes confidentiality agreements, secure system usage, and facility values acknowledgment
- CPI Training: Crisis Prevention Institute training provided during orientation (valid for 2 years)

This is a travel contract opportunity for an MRI Technologist with at least 2 years of experience in Radiology/Cardiology, specifically with GE and Siemens MRI equipment. The position requires multiple certifications, comprehensive background checks, health screenings, and compliance with facility-specific onboarding processes. Flu vaccination and a Duke Guest Account setup are mandatory for clearance. First-time travelers and local candidates are welcome.
