Description

Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (Travel/Contract)

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour shifts, every other week (EOW) required
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Facility Assignment: Primarily Labor & Delivery (L&D), with possible floating to PICU and some Pediatric Acute Care
  • Unit Experience Required: NICU or PICU experience required; home unit will be NICU, PICU, or Pediatrics but may change based on facility needs

Experience Requirements

  • Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
  • Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years minimum NICU experience
  • Additional Experience: Must have Children's Hospital experience within the last 3 years; open to travelers with experience at a Level 1 adult facility
  • L&D Experience: Required, as primary assignment will be in L&D
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required (First Time Travelers Accepted)

Licensure & Certifications

  • Required:
    • Indiana State License (must be in hand to submit)
    • ACLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
    • BLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
    • NBRC RRT
    • NRP (required for those placed in L&D; traveler can obtain once offered)
  • Preferred:
    • PALS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
  • Education: Must be accredited by CoARC and regionally accredited by CHEA

Additional Requirements & Competencies

  • Must have completed a Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (not required for Techs or RRTs)
  • Unit competency exam required
  • Color Blind Testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent) with minimum 100% score
  • HIPAA Acknowledgement required
  • Must complete mandatory RRT modules if applicable (21 modules, deadline prior to orientation)

Background & Health Requirements

  • Background checks including SSN trace, county criminal, statewide, national sex offender, FACIS Level III, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
  • Education verification and transcript/diploma required
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start date
  • Fit mask test within 12 months (specific respirators approved)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred but not required)
    • TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; declinations not accepted
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; declinations not accepted
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination/documentation required (no declinations accepted)

References & History

  • Minimum of 2 references from recent employment verified within 2 years
  • Employment application current with explanations for any gaps of 30+ days
  • Skills checklist required within 12 months and must be completed annually

Important Notes

  • Indiana RN license and certifications must be in hand to submit application
  • IU Health will not allow Indiana RNs to work at their facilities effective 11/30/2024, except for Periop/OR RN’s, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers
  • On-site fit testing available only as a last resort with limitations
  • Facility-specific orientation and compliance documents must be completed as a priority prior to start
