Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (Travel/Contract)
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour shifts, every other week (EOW) required
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Facility Assignment: Primarily Labor & Delivery (L&D), with possible floating to PICU and some Pediatric Acute Care
- Unit Experience Required: NICU or PICU experience required; home unit will be NICU, PICU, or Pediatrics but may change based on facility needs
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
- Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years minimum NICU experience
- Additional Experience: Must have Children's Hospital experience within the last 3 years; open to travelers with experience at a Level 1 adult facility
- L&D Experience: Required, as primary assignment will be in L&D
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (First Time Travelers Accepted)
Licensure & Certifications
- Required:
- Indiana State License (must be in hand to submit)
- ACLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- NBRC RRT
- NRP (required for those placed in L&D; traveler can obtain once offered)
- Preferred:
- PALS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- Education: Must be accredited by CoARC and regionally accredited by CHEA
Additional Requirements & Competencies
- Must have completed a Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (not required for Techs or RRTs)
- Unit competency exam required
- Color Blind Testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent) with minimum 100% score
- HIPAA Acknowledgement required
- Must complete mandatory RRT modules if applicable (21 modules, deadline prior to orientation)
Background & Health Requirements
- Background checks including SSN trace, county criminal, statewide, national sex offender, FACIS Level III, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Education verification and transcript/diploma required
- Physical exam within 12 months of start date
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific respirators approved)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred but not required)
- TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; declinations not accepted
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; declinations not accepted
- Seasonal Flu vaccination/documentation required (no declinations accepted)
References & History
- Minimum of 2 references from recent employment verified within 2 years
- Employment application current with explanations for any gaps of 30+ days
- Skills checklist required within 12 months and must be completed annually
Important Notes
- Indiana RN license and certifications must be in hand to submit application
- IU Health will not allow Indiana RNs to work at their facilities effective 11/30/2024, except for Periop/OR RN’s, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers
- On-site fit testing available only as a last resort with limitations
- Facility-specific orientation and compliance documents must be completed as a priority prior to start
