Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (Travel/Contract)

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour shifts, every other weekend required
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Facility Assignment: Primarily Labor & Delivery (L&D), with possible floating to PICU, NICU, or Pediatrics units
• Unit Experience Required: NICU or PICU experience required; home unit will be assigned based on facility needs
• Floating: May float between PICU, NICU, Pediatrics, and IU Health North Hospital

Experience Requirements

• Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
• Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years in PICU
• Additional Experience:

  • Must have recent Children's Hospital experience within the last 3 years
  • L&D experience required (primary assignment)
  • Open to travelers with level 1 adult facility experience
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (First Time Travelers Accepted)

Certifications & Licenses

• Required Certifications:

  • ACLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
  • BLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
  • NBRC RRT
  • Indiana State License (temporary accepted if applied for permanent)
• Preferred Certifications:

  • PALS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
  • NRP (required if placed in L&D; traveler can obtain after offer)
• Education: Must be accredited by CoARC and regionally accredited by CHEA

Additional Requirements

• Children’s Hospital Experience: Required within last 3 years
• Background Checks: Comprehensive background checks required, including 7-year history, national sex offender registry, and others
• Health Documents:

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 12 months (specific respirators approved)
  • Immunizations and titers: Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred but not required)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Drug screening (10 panel) within 12 months
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
• Competency Exams: Medication/pharmacology test, unit competency exam, color blind testing
• References: Minimum 2 references from recent employment with supervisory titles
• Skills Checklist: Required within 12 months and annually thereafter

Important Notes

• IU Health will not allow Indiana RNs to work at their facilities effective 11/30/2024, except for Periop/OR RN’s, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (including ENDO, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS)
• Mandatory completion of IU Health RRT modules for RRT candidates prior to orientation
• Floating between units and possibly to other IU Health facilities may be required

This position is suitable for respiratory therapists with pediatric and critical care experience who are comfortable working in a children's hospital setting and are flexible with floating assignments. First-time travel therapists are welcome to apply.
