Travel RN Opportunity - Emergency Department
Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Role: Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department (ED)
- Facility Type: Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, high-volume ED (>100,000 visits annually)
- Unit Size: 101 beds
- Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1 medical; up to 7:1 on ED behavioral holds
- Scheduling: Every other weekend; no block scheduling; must meet department needs
- Floating: No floating outside ED; must float within all ED sections
- Documentation System: Cerner
- Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
Required Qualifications
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years as a nurse in a Level II trauma center or comprehensive stroke center
- At least 1 year of experience specifically in an Emergency Room setting
- Certifications (required before start date):
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) within 90 days of hire
- Licenses: Registered Nurse License
- Preferred: Previous experience with HCA Healthcare system
Skills and Attributes
- Teamwork mentality with ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
- Flexibility to work across all areas of the Emergency Department
- Commitment to patient experience using AIDET communication and respectful behavior
- Ability to maintain updated patient boards and keep patients informed throughout their visit
Work Environment and Culture
- Known for strong teamwork and welcoming personalities
- Serves a diverse, multicultural community with over 120 languages spoken in the area
- Tech support available including cardiac monitoring and unit clerks on all shifts
- Dress code: Navy scrubs required

- This is a travel contract position

- Recognized for high clinical quality and safety standards, including Magnet® designation and Leapfrog “A” grade
