Travel RN Opportunity – Emergency Department

Location: Danville, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Experience Required: Minimum 5 years in Emergency Department (highest stated requirement)
  • Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
  • Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
  • Weekend Hours: Rotating weekends / as needed
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Number of Openings: 1

Unit & Patient Information

  • Unit: Emergency Room
  • Beds: 31 beds plus 2 triage rooms (7 beds designated for Behavioral Health or Acute patients)
  • Patient Ratios: Typically 1:4 to 1:6; may vary during high volume or special circumstances
  • Patient Population: All ages (pediatric, adult, geriatric)
  • Electronic Health Records (EHR): Primarily MedHost for ED; Meditech used for admit holds and behavioral health patients

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Handle with Care / Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (CPI)
  • NIH Certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)

Additional Information

  • Orientation: Bi-weekly on Tuesdays
  • Travel Requirement: Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff
  • Random Drug Screening: Required on-site
  • Criminal Background: Must complete a Criminal Questionnaire/Consent Form
  • Personality Fit: Professional, positive, compassionate, team player
  • Dress Code: Scrub color of traveler’s choice
  • Float Requirements: As needed

  • Accredited Chest Pain Center and Advanced Primary Stroke Center
