Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Stockbridge, Georgia
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required
  • 1st time travelers accepted
  • Prior travel experience: Not required

Patient Population

  • Adults to Geriatrics

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification

Clinical Skills & Work Setting

  • Patient Diagnoses include:
    Appendicitis, Cholecystitis, Small Bowel Obstruction, Pneumonia, COPD exacerbation, Sepsis, Hypertension, Hypo/Hyperglycemia, Prostatectomy, Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Ostomy creation/reversal, Exploratory Laparotomy, Bowel resections
  • Equipment experience: NGT (Nasogastric Tube), chest tubes, feeding tubes, wound vacs
  • Unit Systems: Epic, Pyxis, SBAR
  • Nurse to patient ratio: 1:6
  • Unit size: 34 beds, average daily census 27

Work Schedule & Requirements

  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
  • Weekends: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Yes, within facility
  • Call: None
  • Holidays: Expected to work major holidays during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Compliance & Screening

  • Full compliance required to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Clinical screen required to determine clinical fit before final approval

Required Documentation & Health Requirements

  • Background check within 30 days of start (including education verification)
  • Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
  • State license verification within 30 days prior to start (Georgia RN license required)
  • Annual NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (cannot start with results pending)
  • TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months of start or negative chest x-ray if prior positive
  • TB questionnaire required annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
    • Flu vaccine or declination (strongly encouraged during flu season)
  • References: 2 clinical references required
  • Skills checklist updated within 12 months
  • Work history verification of most recent employer required (can be pending at start with proof)

Competency Exams

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
  • Color blind testing required
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for applicable units (Tele, MS/Tele, IMCU, ER, Cardiac Tele/Step-down, ICU, PCU) with up to 3 attempts allowed

Additional Notes

  • Locals accepted at same rate
  • Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
  • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies including Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start

This position offers a diverse adult to geriatric patient population with a variety of acute diagnoses and requires strong clinical skills, certifications, and compliance with facility policies and health requirements.
