Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN)
Location: Rochester, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, rotating days and nights
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Must be available for some holidays
- Patient Ratio: 1:5 to 1:7 for MedSurg
- Unit Size: 26 beds
- Patient Population: CHF patients, acute MI, post device care (pacemakers), arrhythmias
- Floating: Required
- Charting System: EPIC experience required
- Licensing: Must have New York RN license in hand (no exceptions)
- Certifications Required: ACLS and BLS (AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
- Locals: Not accepted if within 75 miles radius
Required Skills & Competencies
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, use of rapid response/code teams
- IV therapy/phlebotomy: peripheral line care/management
- Respiratory care: nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, non-invasive airway management
- Professional skills: isolation precautions
Experience Requirements
- Years of Specialty Experience: Minimum 1 year
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
- 7-year criminal background check (including felony, SSN trace, national sex offender, education verification)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, run monthly
- Foreign equivalency education evaluation if applicable
- Education verification from primary source (no hard copy degrees)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire acceptable in lieu of annual renewal
- Immunizations and titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (vaccines or positive titers required; age exemptions apply)
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (amphetamines, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, opiates, etc.)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season
- Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start
- COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
- References (2 within 3 years) required for agency only
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Work history verification (minimum 2 past employments)
- State-specific documents including NYS Nurse Aide Registry (if applicable), criminal background fingerprinting and disciplinary action searches for certain units, sex offender registry check, and Medicaid exclusion list
Additional Notes
- Floating between units is required
- Must be able to work rotating day and night shifts
- Must be available for some holidays
- Locals within 75 miles radius are not eligible for this travel assignment
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of MedSurg/Telemetry experience, who holds a current New York RN license, and is comfortable with a fast-paced cardiac-focused unit requiring strong clinical skills and flexibility.
